True Blue Bay Resort and the Grenada Community:
Thanks to you, our guest, True Blue Bay Resort is able to cooperate in a small manner with some community service in Grenada.
True Blue Bay Resort is happy to accommodate every year for free the volunteers from "The Children’s Health Organization Relief and Educational Services (CHORES)". This is a not-for-profit, non-sectarian children’s health organization based in Jacksonville, Florida. Founded in 1989, CHORES is comprised of pediatricians, pediatric surgeons and anesthesiologists, pediatric sub-specialists, pediatric physical, occupational and speech therapists, prosthetic specialists, engineers, contractors, and educators - all willing to donate their time and expertise to assist with children’s health care on a global basis, including Grenada (http://www.choresforthechildren.org).
Every summer in the quiet tourist months, True Blue Bay Resort invites the Queen Elizabeth Home to bring children to the resort to play at the kids playground, have a swim in the pool and sometimes have lunch at the restaurant. The Queen Elizabeth Home is a Grenada charity which is located in Tempe just inland from St George’s. This valuable charity provides shelter and support for poor, orphaned or abused children, giving them access to schooling and further education to integrate them with the wider Grenadian community. Donations, books and school supplies are always appreciated by this organization. Every new school term the resort buys the school books for all the children of their staff.
Thank you for the donations sent by past guests after hurricane Ivan, the resort has a staff fund where the staff can get small loans at small interest rates.
Two or three times a year True Blue invites local crafters to participate in "Craft Parties" at the resort helping promote and support local businesses and artisans. Every December the local community looks forward to the True Blue Annual Christmas Bazaar, celebrated on the hotel grounds.
When possible True Blue Bay is always happy to donate free accommodation, food and money to charitable causes.
