Christmas Bazaar at True Blue Bay Resort

The 2009 Christmas Bazaar was a great success again.
We had record numbers of Tourist and Sailors visiting the event.
The holiday spirit definitely got going as there was music from "The Men from the Mainland" who sang fabulous Christmas Parang Carols. You couldn't help dancing to the bit of these fun songs.
The variety and quality of crafts was extraordinary, from ingenious Christmas decorations to sophisticated pieces of jewelry; there was a gift for everyone.
We look forward to our next Bazaar for Easter on April 3rd.

Grenada Sailing Festival - Pure Sail, Pure Spice January 30th to February 3rd, 2009
Why not start the New Year by joining us and being part of a unique sailing experience in Grenada - the Port Louis Grenada Sailing Festival. Running from 30 January to 3 February, the Festival is four days of challenging racing for international keelboats on courses off the island's beautiful & rugged southern coast. Over its sixteen year history, the event has attracted yacht owners, skippers and crews from a wide range of countries including the UK, Europe, the USA and even Australia, joining our local Caribbean yachtsmen.
In 2009 entries are already in from boats from Trinidad, Barbados, USA, Austria and Holland - True Blue Bay is delighted to see our good Dutch friends coming back to stay with us again, and this time bringing a group of 30 keen sailors to enjoy great sailing and great Grenadian hospitality.

If this is not enough, the organizers find time to fit in a week-end of traditional local 'work boat' racing based on the famous white sand Grand Anse Beach. Get yourselves a cold beer, or perhaps a rum & coke, and join the passionate local supporters to cheer on their crews in 'Le Mans' style starts on the beach. This is the essence of Grenada Sailing Festival - international style with a friendly, fun local twist that will have you coming back year after year - Pure Sail, Pure Spice

For more details on entering your boat, chartering , or simply visiting to enjoy the atmosphere and parties, log onto the Festival website www.grenadasailingfestival.com, or contact Sarah Baker on gsail@spiceisle.com

Cricket Classics.
The Grenada Cricket Classics is an annual event which has grown in popularity since it was first staged in 2004. The focus of the week is on the two clashes between cricketing legends of England and the West Indies where these great names of the past do battle in two limited overs matches. There are parties in the evenings but the best party of all is always at “The Dodgy Dock “located at the waterfront at True Blue Bay Resort. Here Curtly Ambrose and his famous band “Big Bad Dread and The Baldhead” entertained 300 people at a reggae and rum punch party under the stars. You most make sure not to miss this event Saturday 11th at The Dodgy Dock. For more information and bookings from the UK http://www.justgrenada.co.uk/cricket_classics.htm

True Blue Bay Resort 10th Anniversary
Believed it or not this coming November is the 10th Anniversary of True Blue Bay Resort. Seems like only yesterday when, on our first day at the hotel, Mary Calliste (then the only receptionist, accountant and administrator, now our Assistant Manager) welcomed us and showed us all the ins and outs of the 7 room Inn employing 10 people. Mary Calliste, Joseph Grant (then porter and now driver), Sheryl Pysadie still working in the housekeeping, Beverly Benjamin then a cook and now Head Breakfast Cook are still proudly working with us. Esther Benoit cook supervisor, Clair Gibbs in charge of the laundry, Kathleen Clement then receptionist now Food and Beverage Controller and Jennifer Johan Reservationists joined us shortly after and are still working with us.
Thanks to their hard work and loyalty we have transform True Blue Bay Resort into the Fabulous boutique hotel we have now.

Many events have happen since that day including: building many more rooms, extending the restaurant, adding the Dodgy Dock, Marina, Dive Center, going through a few storms and a horrid hurricane, one change of Government, obtaining our Grenadian citizenship, Russ becoming president of the Grenada Hotel and Tourist Association, hosting the Grenada Sailing Festival for 9 years, organizing the Annual Christmas bazaar for 9 years, to name but a few.
All we can say is thank you to all of you for supporting our resort and we looking forward to seeing you for many more years to come.
